Now on to the next bit of news – this is for you all my dears.. a Giveaway! Read on :

Chai or Chaibecca?

The battle is still on in my kitchen. What battle? You may ask. Oh the same one in which my delicious darling of a hubz makes the perfect cup of chai every morning. In case you are new here and or haven’t read that post, here is the scoop : Chai

The reason I never venture into the chai making arena is because I have never been able to get a balance of spice, sweet, chai leaves quantity etc etc involved in making the perfect cup of tea. I get it right on many days, but on some days, when I busy chatting up with a friend, I will invariably forget to add in something and the chai lacks that oomph factor.

My solution to such days was? Call the hubz and ask him to drive from work and make a cuppa for me and my friend ? Naah! I wish I could though (I keep my hopes high you see).

My solution was never to offer making the chai. Sigh!!!! And if they really wanted it? And asked for it ? I would tell them I may not make a great cup so you are free to make one for yourself. Or offer endless options of green tea, peach tea, tea from celestial seasonings or teavana. Not a very gracious hostess thing to do, but hey, it was better than saying, you can’t have chai.

And then, a friend introduced me to Rebecca, the genius behind the brand “Chaibecca”. She said I must taste her blends.  To be honest, I am very snobbish about the cup of tea. It has to be made a certain way, boiled at the right temperature, the right spices added and has to have that perfect taste. And as you know by now, even I don’t get it right all the time.

So I was curious to see what Rebecca had done to the chai. So my friend Jill from Saucycooks and I went to Rebecca’s beautiful home for a chai tasting and to get the scoop on how it all started.

To say that I blown away by how authentic the taste of chai was, is an understatement. Her creator’s blend is your perfect cup of masala chai, without all the guess work and all the pounding of masala. With a hint of cardamom that you can taste in each sip, this tea is perfect to begin your day.

And then she poured me a cup of Vanilla chai. Vanilla beans in chai? I know what you are thinking. But this blend is phenomenal. With the after taste of vanilla, the chai is almost like a dessert. Creamy smooth finish after every sip… This chai is perfect for a romantic evening on the balcony in the rains, or a girly chai and gushap .

After the two tastings, Rebecca gave me and Jill a sample pack of her creators blend, vanilla bean, ginger root and Rooibos mountain chai. Perfect for those times when the hubz is not around to make the cuppa. And he also said, it was a great cup of chai. Now that is a huge compliment.

Rebecca is passionate about chai and loves the experience of sharing a cup of chai with friends and family. She has worked hard to create the perfect blends and while talking to her I could not help but get engulfed in a warm, comforting sense of well being.
