There is a privacy about it which no other season gives you…. In spring, summer and fall people sort of have an open season on each other; only in the winter, in the country, can you have longer, quiet stretches when you can savor belonging to yourself. ~Ruth Stout

Or one savors belonging to the loved ones, all gathered near the fireplace creating a warm home; Conversations happen, stories are told, laughter is shared. There is an old world charm about winter. It makes you want to go home and curl up with a book and some hot cider or hot chocolate. Now if only all days in winter were vacation days, life would be perfect.

Tanqueray Cider

Well, I have good news and not so good news. The not so good news is that it’s a Monday today. The good News is that we have Hot Cider. Who says Monday blues can’t be beat?

It was our anniversary a couple of days ago and the Spice Guy made this for me after the Devilishly Dark Chocolate Cake was eaten and the rest of it put away. He can mix a mean drink and this one was no exception. So I just had to share the recipe to make the Hot Tanqueray Cider with his special addition of Grand Marnier  .

  1. I just happen to have apple cider in the fridge, its cold over here and Valentine’s in one day. Can’t wait to get this going. Thanks so much for sharing!
Happy anniversary to both of you!

  2. What a profound statement – a time to belong to yourself. Our anniversary is coming up next week. I wonder if I could get my husband to make a cake like this? Not a chance. 🙂

Instead I’ll have a cup of cider and spend a few minutes belonging to myself.

Thanks Bhavna. The drink was really fab!! As much as I like the charm of winters I am looking forward to spring and seeing some greenery now.
