Yes, two days in a row I am using the recipes from Muy Bueno cookbook. I just had to make this warm pear cider and while I was cooking the chicken mole yesterday, I made this for our Friday power foods blog group. I mean how can you not look at the cup made from a pear and see cinnamon and anise and cloves and not say “I have got to make it”.
I am loving this book so much that next week when I have some friends over, my menu is planned from this book. It will be an awesome evening, sharing good food and great times.
I used the recipe and the idea from Yvette and I hope she will forgive me, but this is too good to not share and tell the world what an incredible cookbook Muy Bueno is and how breathtakingly beautiful these pears look when you set them up on a platter to serve. And the cider is absolutely soulful.
Warm Pear Cider
- 2 C pear juice no sugar added
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 2 whole cloves
- 2 star anise whole
- pears to serve in
- Put all the ingredients in a pan except the pears.
- Bring to a boil, simmer for 10 minutes
- Serve hot in cups or if using the pears, hollow out the pears and serve them in the pear cups.
- The pears are quite yummy after you drink the cider.
I made this non alcoholic and also increased the number of cloves per portion. Yvettes original recipe has some tequila incorporated. I will make that soon too!
